ADHD and Forgetfulness - Finding the Humour!

This is the face of someone who went somewhere and then immediately forgot why! Well that is ADHD for you - you head out with a purpose, get distracted by a hundred different thoughts on the way and end up standing there thinking "What was I supposed to be doing again?"
I laugh about it, but this is the kind of everyday moment that so many people with ADHD know all too well, and it is not our fault -it is just how our ADHD brains work.
In my coaching sessions, I hear these stories constantly from my clients (I always share some tales of my own so they know they're not alone) such as forgetting what they walked into a room for, losing their train of thought mid-sentence, or starting one task and ending up halfway through five others.
On their own, they’re funny (and sometimes frustrating), but stacked up over time, they can chip away at confidence. Which is why humour is such an important part of ADHD coaching for me; if we can learn to laugh at these quirks, we can also learn to work with them. That shift from frustration to self-acceptance is where change really starts.
