It Is Farewell To Teaching For Me!

This week, I said goodbye to my teaching job.

For the past four years, I’ve worked at the same secondary school, and it is one that will always mean a great deal to me. Two years ago, I made the decision to go part time so I could focus more on my ADHD coaching work, but as my coaching practice grew, balancing both roles became harder and harder. Eventually, the time had come for me to make a decision; coaching is where my heart truly lies, so I chose to leave the classroom.

I have genuinely loved working at the school; the staff have been brilliant, the pupils endlessly interesting, and the environment one that made coming into work each day feel worthwhile. I won’t pretend I’ll miss the marking - I won’t! - but I will miss the daily challenge, the humour, and the many moments of connection that come with working in a school.

What I will miss most, though, are the SEN students I worked with who I spent years building relationships with - getting to know them properly, understanding how they learn, and finding ways to support them as individuals. I sincerely hope that whoever steps into my role next gives them the same time and attention, as these students deserve it.

So, farewell to my school, the staff, and the students who made it such a memorable part of my journey; it has been an experience I will always carry with me.
