MICHAEL LING COACHING
I help both adults and students to find the coping strategies they need for work, school and life and we find ways together for you to play to your strengths and start succeeding in what's most important to you.

Having ADHD does not mean that you can't achieve what other people do but that you may need to do things in a different way, maybe even a better way.

The program that I offer combines the elements of formal training with the lived experience of having ADHD myself and teaching a multitude of neurodivergent students during my 10 year career as a teacher and head of department. I will assist you in building the skills and tools to overcome the barriers and make work, learning, parenting or life begin to feel like a true joy.

ABOUT ME
My journey in coaching started 7 years ago when I decided to get some coaching myself. I had discovered by chance via an expert interview on the radio that I probably had ADHD and a diagnosis later confirmed this. I felt it explained why I had been feeling stuck and burnt out in life and in my career as a teacher and knew that something needed to change and fast. The coach that I found (or more accurately - found me, but that's a story for another time) was empathetic, patient and seemed to understand that what I needed was some alternative methods, clear short and long term goals and help achieving them. They helped to guide me find tools, strategies and purpose again and before long, just as I was on the brink of leaving my career, I was back enjoying teaching again. From there I got promoted twice, took up new hobbies like racket sports, a public speaking club, travelling, learning Spanish and even met my wife. I knew that one day, I wanted to do the same for others - help other ADHDers to overcome their challenges, feel more fulfilled and become the best version of themselves.
Why invest in ADHD coaching?
Over time I have become passionate about self development and that is why I've taken a real interest in studies on how to become more productive and how to be more successful in achieving your goals. A study conducted by the American Society of Training and Development looked into the probabilities of achieving goals and here are their results:

Chances of successfully achieving a goal:
10% - if you simply have an idea or goal in mind
25% - if you make a conscious decision to do it
40% - if you decide when you will do it
50% - if you make a plan for how you will do it
65% - if you promise someone you will do it
95% - if you have regular appointments with someone you can be accountable to

This last one astonished me - that is a whopping 95% chance of achieving a goal! So this is why meeting regularly with a Coach can be so successful in helping you to get the important things in your life done and live your best life. Many successful celebrities have also used coaching to help them get to where they want to be too. Below is a video with their take on coaching from people like Oprah Winfrey, Hugh Jackman, Eric Schmidt and even Bill Gates.
