Do You Ever Wish You Could Travel Back In Time?

I often imagine that if I could travel back in time - just one small hop, like through the Tardis or DeLorean next to me, I wouldn’t go to see the dinosaurs or give Hitler a piece of my mind. Instead I would go back to my childhood and tell myself that there is nothing wrong with me, I just have ADHD, and everything will be ok in the end.
I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 27, after years of feeling like something was off, but not knowing exactly what. Suddenly, so many things clicked into place - everything finally made sense and I felt like a different person.
In England, it is estimated that around 2.5 million people have ADHD, but only about 1/3 of them have an official diagnosis.
The prevalence is clear: 3-4% of adults and 5% of children in England meet the criteria for ADHD, yet only 1.3% have it documented.
Breaking it down further, across the UK around 3 million people live with ADHD, but over 80% of them don’t have a diagnosis.
If you’re an adult seeking help yourself, the wait can feel endless; many people endure waiting times of 2 to 4 years, and depending on the region some have even waited over 7 to 10 years for an NHS assessment.
So if I could go back to the past, I would tell my younger self: “You’re not lazy, you have ADHD and that is not your fault”
If you are an adult awaiting diagnosis, you are most definitely not alone - there is support out there and you do not have to suffer in silence.
