Playing To Your Strengths Improves Your Wellbeing

I have been reading the article below from the University of Bath and found it very interesting; the idea of 'playing to your strengths' is something I embed into my coaching sessions. It isn’t a cliché at all; it is entirely accurate – everyone has strengths, and focussing on those rather than your weaknesses is crucial for your wellbeing.

Researchers found that adults with ADHD who recognise and use their personal strengths report feeling less anxious and stressed, and experience a better quality of life overall.

The same applies even if you are neurotypical, but for those of us with neurodiversity it is even more important to follow, as we are more likely to give up if we feel we are failing (or even just at the thought of failing), meaning we get stuck and can’t progress.

So think about what you are good at, rather than what you aren’t good at, and try to focus on those qualities. We are all good at something – be proud of what you can do; it really will make you feel better about yourself!
