The Science of ADHD - Navigating Neurodiversity in a Neurotypical World

I wanted to share this brilliant talk by Professor James Brown called 'The Science of ADHD – Navigating Neurodiversity in a Neurotypical World'.

It’s one of the most accessible and honest explanations of ADHD I’ve come across, backed by science and based on real-life experience too. I was lucky enough to attend it in person in Cambridge alongside members of the ADHD support group that I run; being able to share this experience with like-minded people was fantastic.

Professor Brown explores what ADHD actually is, how it affects people across all areas of life, and why it is so often misunderstood. He also talks about the rising awareness of adult ADHD and the barriers that still exist, especially for women and those who don’t present in the 'typical' way.

He spoke with clarity and compassion and shared how it is not just about symptoms and struggles which seems to be what people focus on when speaking about ADHD, but about strengths, self-understanding and the importance of making space for different ways of thinking and being.

It’s well worth a watch, whether you live with ADHD, support someone who does, or simply want to understand it more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu1cJIgqTw0
