Why it's important to celebrate the wins when you have ADHD

Writer: Michael LingMichael Ling

Well...

  • When we celebrate our wins, it leads to motivation.

  • More motivation leads to more action.

  • Action leads to success, which leads to more motivation.

  • When we celebrate our wins it increases that motivation, which leads to more action again, more success and more motivation.

We get ourselves on this success loop.

Most of the people I know with ADHD say that when they complete a task, they just feel relief.

They don't spend the time reflecting on what they've done and they're just straight onto the next task.

My coaching clients have different ways of celebrating their wins, One likes to tell a trusted family member or friend. I have another one who likes to go and buy themselves a nice hot chocolate at a cafe, and another client that likes to fist bump someone. It doesn't matter how you choose to celebrate your wins, just so long as you do celebrate them!

Me personally? Well I like to have a nice cup of tea!

How are you going to celebrate your successes?
